Ouarzazate, Morroco.

Last night we took a camel ride through the Merzouga desert and spent the night in a Berber tent under the stars, among sand dunes. Before dinner the camp had a snow board and Steve could not resist the opportunity to give the big dune a try. However, there is a reason it’s called a snow board and not a sand board and Steve had little success. But he gets an A for effort. After dinner we were provided some musical entertainment which was fun but the whole thing did seem a little touristy for my taste. Early this morning we returned from camp via Camel (I was walking a little funny afterwards) for breakfast and a shower at the hotel.

We drove for about six hours today to Ouarzazate. The most memorable experience was listening to George Michael (CD provided by our driver) while Steve and Alice jammed out and I gritted my teeth. Just when I thought it couldn’t get anymore painful I was stung by a bee which provided entrainment for everyone in the car but me.

We arrived to Ouarzazate after sunset so we have yet to really see the area. We plan on checking it out in the early morning and will then drive to Marrakesh and spend two nights. I have high hopes for Marrakesh.
